Easter comes but once a year and what better way to celebrate than with some delicious, quality chocolate.

The Easter Egg has been getting steadily more stylish year on year and some of the creations nowadays wouldn’t look out of place in a trendy boutique.  Of course, they have to taste as good as they look to make it into the lovefood.com guide so we’ve hunted down some of the best places to buy Easter Eggs in the UK.

Let us do the hard work and all you need to worry about it eating them...

Hotel Chocolat

If it’s decadence you’re after, Hotel Chocolat won’t disappoint.  Whether you want a traditional egg or something a bit wacky, their Easter gifts are beautiful to look at and even better to eat.

Classic Eggs and Soldiers - £7

This is a fun take on a classic childhood favourite.  Five praline filled shells are topped with a white chocolate fried egg and accompanied by a troop of white chocolate soldiers.

Nestled inside the extra thick white chocolate shell, lie eight cheeky little strawberry eggs.  Super sweet and super pretty, I think this fruity little number will go down a treat.

Whoever gets this egg come April 24th will be smiling from ear to ear.  Both shells come in Hotel Chocolat’s 40% milk chocolate and enclosed are 12 decorated mini eggs.  Flavours include salted liquid caramel, hazelnut praline, chocolate brownie and more. Mmmm.

Thorntons

One of the great things about Thorntons is a lot of their eggs can be iced for free with the name of the recipient.  If none of the ideas below grab your fancy then you can’t go wrong with a personalised egg!

Lenny the Lamb is made of sweet, creamy white chocolate and comes with white chocolate buttons.  If you’re worried about a chocolate overload this Easter then this sweet little lamb may be just plenty.

All 32 of the delicious Metropolitan range at Thorntons find their way into this egg.  The mouth watering centres are wrapped in either Ecuadorian milk chocolate or dark Dominican Republic.

This dark chocolate egg has been specifically designed for fans of floral chocolate.  The egg is filled with a delicious selection of rose, violet, lavender and geranium creams.

Chocolatier to the Queen, Prestat know a thing or two about chocolate.  And if they’re good enough for Lizzie, they’re good enough for us. Unfortunately they are not available online so we cannot link through to them, but they are available in Waitrose, John Lewis, Selfridges, Liberty’s, the Harrod’s concession and The Prestat shop.

The soft, sweet caramel infused with a hint of sea salt fills the dark chocolate egg to create a unique and sophisticated taste.  The egg looks equally gorgeous, nestled inside its extravagant packaging with Prestat’s trademark gold and pink swirls.  Even if you’re not royalty, you might feel it with this egg.
