Classic margarita recipe

Get the party started with this refreshing tequila cocktail.

Ingredients

  • 45 ml tequila (we like Patrón Silver)
  • 15 ml orange-flavoured liqueur (like triple sec or Patrón Citronge Orange)
  • 15 ml fresh lime juice
  • 7 ml simple sugar syrup
  • 1 lime wedge to garnish (optional)
  • 2 tbsp salt (optional, to rim the glass)
  • 1.6 fl oz tequila (we like Patrón Silver)
  • 0.5 fl oz orange-flavoured liqueur (like triple sec or Patrón Citronge Orange)
  • 0.5 fl oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.2 fl oz simple sugar syrup
  • 1 lime wedge to garnish (optional)
  • 2 tbsp salt (optional, to rim the glass)
  • 0.2 cup tequila (we like Patrón Silver)
  • 0.1 cup orange-flavoured liqueur (like triple sec or Patrón Citronge Orange)
  • 0.1 cup fresh lime juice
  • 0 cup simple sugar syrup
  • 1 lime wedge to garnish (optional)
  • 2 tbsp salt (optional, to rim the glass)

Step-by-step

  1. Rim the edge of a glass with salt. Do this by dipping the rim of the glass in a shallow bowl of water or running a cut lime wedge around the rim, then dipping into a shallow bowl of salt.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice to chill.
  3. Strain into the salt-rimmed glass.
  4. Garnish with a lime wedge, if using.
