Almond macaroons recipe

A (sort of) healthy dessert, made only from egg whites, sugar, ground almonds, coconut, and a few secret ingredients...

This recipe uses American cups as a measure; but if you don't have one, just remember that 1 cup of flour = 150g; 1 cup of sugar = 225g; and 1 cup of dried fruit = 200g.

  • 0.25 cups sugar
  • 0.25 cups apple sauce
  • 1.25 cups shredded coconut
  • 0.25 cups chopped candied orange peel
  • 0.75 cups ground almonds
  • 2 tbsp flour

Step-by-step

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheet pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whip the egg whites with the sugar until frothy. Stir in the remaining ingredients.
  3. Form mixture into walnut-size balls and place them on the prepared cookie sheet.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes.
  5. Cool, then peel cookies off the parchment paper.
