Lemon gin fizz cocktail recipe

This lemon gin fizz cocktail is perfectly balanced, both sweet and tart. A classic gin fizz is refreshing, effervescent and velvety in texture thanks to the egg white, soda water, lemon and gin coming together in a magical mixture.

Ingredients

For the lemon syrup
  • 300 g caster sugar
  • 150 ml water
  • 1 lemon, juice and zest (we like using the Microplane® Premium Classic Zester)

For the cocktail
  • 50 ml gin
  • 20 ml lemon juice
  • 15 ml lemon syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 amount of soda water to taste
  • 1 lemon slice, to garnish
  • 1 sprig of mint, to garnish
  • 1.8 fl oz gin
  • 0.7 fl oz lemon juice
  • 0.5 fl oz lemon syrup
  • 1 egg white

Step-by-step

To make the lemon syrup:

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, dissolve the caster sugar in the water, with the juice and zest of a lemon.
  2. Reduce by a third and leave to cool. Strain, bottle and store in the fridge.

To make the cocktail:

  1. In a cocktail shaker, pour gin, lemon juice, egg white and lemon syrup. Add ice and shake vigorously.
  2. Strain into a glass and top with soda. Garnish with a slice of lemon and fresh mint.
