Entertaining dining experiences

A new food and film experience at an Odeon cinema in London is part of a growing trend for supper and a show.

A new cinematic-gastronomic experience launches today with the opening of The Lounge at the Odeon in London’s Whiteleys shopping centre.

With a fine dining menu created by chef Rowley Leigh, you can enjoy a three-course meal to accompany your film.

And forget cold hot dogs and buckets of soft drink, at The Lounge you can tuck into red mullet and prawn risotto or venison chilli. Each table is kitted out with a layer of sound-proof material so that your fellow cinemagoers are not disturbed when your food is delivered. Although we suspect there will be some background cutlery noise.

But The Lounge isn’t the only place offering a mixture of food and entertainment. Here are four other dining experiences with a difference:

Bel Canto, London
If you want your supper to be serenaded, this French restaurant in the Corus Hotel on Lancaster Gate comes complete with opera singing waiting staff.

Ronnie Scotts, London
The legendary jazz venue serves a full dinner menu while you enjoy luminaries such as Courtney Pine and Georgie Fame.

Pizza Express jazz clubs, Chelsea, Soho and Maidstone
If you want to enjoy a night of music with your margherita, these three clubs offer a range of acts, not just jazz.

The Mill, Sonning
While you don’t eat your dinner in front of the performers at this intimate Berkshire theatre, it’s an all-inclusive dining and thespian experience.
