The results are in: the prestigious Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2021 competition has announced its winners and we’re here to show you the incredible photographs that made it. Odisha Tribal Markets by Indigo Larmour, India
Humble fruits and vegetables are the star of the show in this striking photograph, from glossy-skinned aubergines to multicoloured tomatoes and earthy root veg. The mesmerising shot of the tribal markets of Odisha, eastern India, was captured by 12-year-old photographer Indigo Larmour, who won the 11-14 age category. The promising photographer previously took home the Young Travel Photographer of the Year title in 2019 and 2020.

Winning Joseph Smith the Winterbotham Darby Food for Sale award in this year’s competition, this shot, depicting a street vendor dishing out capers to a customer, transports us to the charming Maltese village.

The ritual of sharing food might have shape-shifted during the pandemic, but it hasn’t gone away completely. Rather, curbs on indoor dining have led many of us onto the street – and perhaps that’s not such a bad thing. This delightful shot of four girls enjoying a bowl of soup in Hoi An was captured by Viet Van Tran, who said “it made me feel that life is lovely even though we are all living in a pandemic”.
