Actor Robin Ellis, most famous for his role as Ross Poldark in the hit mini-series, Poldark, was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in 1999. Having watched is mother die from a heart attack related to her Type One Diabetes he took his own condition very seriously but instead of opting straight away for the prescribed drugs, he first looked at his lifestyle. Before too long he has swapped all the whites for whole wheat or rye and eradicated all refined sugar from his diet. Living in the south of France he was able to indulge his passion for Mediterranean food and in doing so found a way of eating that suited his new needs perfectly, so much so in fact, he was able to manage his condition for the first six years without any medication at all. In his new book, Healthy Eating for Life, he shares his favourite recipes, all of which are simple but delicious.
