Here are the pies that were top of the pile at this year's awards.
A chicken, mushroom, English mustard and cream pie has been judged Supreme Champion at the 2015 British Pie Awards.
The pie is produced by the Great North Pie Co, which also walked away with the Small Producer award and won the Beef & Any Flavour Pie, Chicken & Vegetable/Herb Pie, Fish Pie and Vegetarian Pie classes.
The company, based in Wilmslow, Cheshire, was started by former policeman Neil Broomfield, who started out selling at farmer’s markets and to former police colleagues. It’s now expanded to brew its own beer and make its own cheese for its pies.
M&S’s Ploughmans pork pie, which is made by Walker & Son, won the Savoury Pie award. Morecambe Football Club, which was Supreme Champion last year, scored with the judges in the Dessert Pie and Football Club Pie this year.
The awards are held each year in Melton Mowbray. Hundreds of pies were judged by a panel of food industry chiefs, experts, journalists and local dignitaries.
