Bob Marley on a grapefruit, fire at River Cottage, inhalable coffee and more stories from the past seven days

Welcome to this week’s round-up of some of the other food stories that we’ve spotted this week.

Bob Marley celebrated on, er, grapefruit

It would have been Bob Marley's 67th birthday on Monday. Coincidentally, he's just been voted the most influential musician ever in a poll by Jamaican fizzy grapefruit drink ting. So what did they do to mark these two auspicious occasions? They commissioned a portrait of him on a grapefruit. You can see it above.

Fire at River Cottage

A fire on Tuesday night destroyed the cookery school at Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage. It’s likely that the blaze at the converted barn which housed the school had “been burning for some time before it was discovered”, said fire investigator Mike Burroughs. No-one was injured and there are no suspicious circumstances. Hugh himself was filming overseas at the time of the fire.

Need a caffeine hit? Take a deep breath

A Harvard professor has developed a lipstick-sized canister of inhalable coffee. Each AeroShot contains 100mg of lime-flavoured caffeine and has been on sale in New York for a month now, although sales have apparently been lethargic. But a burst of publicity this week could give sales a much-needed perk-up.

The collection contains over 5,000 bottles and includes cognacs dating back to 1789.

The Boy Who Bakes smashes chocolate smartphone box

Edd Kimber, winner of the first series of the BBC’s Great British Bake Off, has just won another prize – a Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone housed in a box made entirely of Cadbury white chocolate. Once he’d unpacked his phone, Edd then smashed up the box to make a white chocolate and blackberry mousse. You can watch the video of him smashing and cooking below and get the recipe for the white chocolate and blackberry mousse on his blog The Boy Who Bakes.
