Branches of Union Jacks and Jamie's Italian to open in Gatwick's North Terminal in June

Jamie Oliver is taking over a big chunk of Gatwick Airport’s North Terminal with a Jamie’s Italian restaurant and takeaway bakery, and a bar version of his Union Jacks chain.

The Jamie’s Italian bakery (artist's impression pictured above) will sell takeaway pizzas, salads and cakes. The Union Jacks will serve some of the restaurant’s most popular small dishes, plus some created especially for Gatwick customers. It will also stick to its policy of selling UK beers and wines.

The combined Jamie Oliver brands will occupy 6,000 square feet of the North Terminal, which is being refurbished at a cost of £1.2 billion. The Jamie’s Italian restaurant will have views of the airfield. They will open in June.

The Jamie Oliver brand is expanding apace this year, with a branch of Union Jacks due to open in Winchester in the summer. A branch of Jamie’s Italian has just opened in St Albans, with a Manchester city centre restaurant to follow before the end of this month. Restaurants in York, Norwich and Edinburgh are planned to open later this year.
