A major medical breakthrough that could transform the lives of people living with lung disease, the treatment uses patients' own stem cells which are then transplanted into patients' lungs. There, they develop and repair the injured parts. The therapy was successfully used to ease the symptoms of patients suffering from bronchiectasis.
