A new addition to the awards, the Outstanding Bakery category was introduced this year to shine a light on spots producing noteworthy breads, pastries and desserts. Overall winner Yoli Tortilleria in Kansas City, Missouri (run by founders Mark and Marissa Gencarelli, pictured), certainly does that; its incredible stone-ground tortillas, prepared according to ancient techniques, are loved far and wide. Meanwhile, after being nominated for the Outstanding Pastry Chef or Baker award five times, Margarita Manzke, from renowned LA restaurant République, took home the award this year.
