Summer 2016 UK food and drink festivals and events

Summer is here, and as the days are longer and warmer there are a host of foodie festivals and events to enjoy.

Stuck for something to do over the coming weekends? Why not find your nearest food and drink event and stock up on some ingredients, or learn something new at a masterclass?

All details listed below are correct to the best of our knowledge at the time of writing. Events may be more expensive if you pay on the door. Please feel free to recommend other events in the comments section below, but no trade events please. 

Some outdoor festivals may be called off in poor weather, so you'd be wise to check they are going ahead before travelling

Rock Oyster Festival Summer Party

What: This festival promises artisan food stalls, international musicians and kitchen demonstrations from UK chefs! There's also yoga, a beer tent and lots of Porthilly oysters and St Moritz mussels to enjoy!

When: 15-16 July

Where: Dinham House, Wadebridge, Cornwall, PL27 6RH

Cost: £34 with camping, teens £20 and children tickets can vary from free entry to £8.

Lambeth Country Show

What: There's traditional county fair produce like home-grown jams and chutneys and horticultural shows and sheep dog and owl displays for you to enjoy at the Lambeth Country Show. Music is a big part of the show and this year there will be a distinctively urban south London vibe. 

When: 16-17 July

Where: Brockwell Park, Brixton, London 

Cost: Free

Bodiam Castle Food Festival 

What: A family friendly festival suitable for all where you can choose from a wide selection of gourmet burgers, retro ice creams and artisan beers. There will also be live cooking demonstrations with local chefs and lots of activities for everyone to enjoy.

When: 16-17 July 

Where: Bodiam Castle, Bodiam, TN32 5UA 

Cost: The event is free, but usual visitor/ground fees to the castle apply unless you're a National Trust member. Adult tickets are £8.20, child tickets and £4.10 and family tickets are £20.50.

Mouth Of The Tweed Local Food Festival

What: A real local food festival which celebrates food and drink produced within a 16-mile radius of Berwick-upon-Tweed. There will be local producers, street food stands and traditional music with Bear Claw micro-brewery ales to enjoy too. 

When: 21 July

Where: Berwick Quayside, Dewars Lane Granary, Tweedmouth, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland, TD15 1HJ.

Cost: Free entry.

JUST EAT Food Fest

What: A food festival in Shoreditch where you can enjoy a jam-packed weekend of world-class cuisine plus entertainment and music. You can pick food from Whaam Banh Mi, Gyms Kitchen, Dum Dum Donutterie and so much more!

When: 22-24 July

Where: Red Market, London, EC1V 9LA

Cost: Free entry.

The Jerk Off 2016

What: This is a festival with a twist as it is actually a BBQ competition, which offers you the chance to taste the dishes. There's also some live music, a funfair for the kids, circus performers and Caribbean catering. 

When: 23 July

Where: 77 Segensworth Rd, Titchfield, Fareham, Hampshire PO15

Cost: Early Bird tickets available now! Adults £25 and children tickets are £10.

Peterborough Sausage and Cider Music Festival 2016

What: A three-day food and music festival. Musical acts include a Robbie Williams tribute band, Michael Jackson tribute and a Kasabian tribute. There will also be large selections of sausage-based foods and ciders. 

When: 29-31 July

Where: Elton Hall, Peterborough, PE8 6SH

Cost: Ticket prices vary depending on whether you choose to camp or not. An adult weekend camping & entry ticket is £39.99 + booking fee, under 16s weekend camping & entry ticket is £24.99+ booking fee etc.

Yorkshire Dales Food And Drink Festival

What: This is a festival that promotes the 'Field to Fork' ethos and hopes to show the finest food, drink and chefs from the Yorkshire Dales region. With James Martin and the Hairy Bikers among the line-up, this is an event you won't want to miss. 

When: 30-31 July

Where: CCM Skipton Auction Mart, Gargrave Rd, Skipton BD23 1UD

Cost: Ticket prices vary from £6-£25 depending on your chosen activity.

Multi and Thai Cultural Food Festival

What: A two-day event which will include world food & produce stalls, a mixed culture costume parade, culture dances and a costume fashion show. The event displays a varied mix of cultural entertainment for the whole family to enjoy!

When: 30-31 July

Where: Bristol Millennium Square, Canons Way, Bristol BS1 5DB

Cost: A two day entrance ticket is £6 and a one-day entrance ticket (Buy-2-get-1-free) is £8.

Great Dorset Chilli Festival 2016

What: Described as the hottest day out in Dorset! This is an event sure to be enjoyed by chilli enthusiasts, food lovers and families. Stalls will sell all things chilli from cayenne condiments to ceramics, and there'll be cooking demonstrations to see too. 

When: 30-31 July

Where: St Giles House, Wimborne St Giles, Dorset 

Cost: Advanced tickets are available until noon, Monday 25 July. Advanced adult tickets are £6, 11 to 16-years-old tickets are £2.50, children under 10-years-old go free and family tickets are £14.50.
