Tired of endless repeats of Come Dine With Me? Try these other food-themed programmes over Christmas.

The Christmas Radio Times is now out (other TV guides are available) so we've been poring over the schedule picking out our festive favourites.

Jamie’s Cracking Christmas

This one’s already been and gone on Channel 4, but luckily you can watch it on demand on the C4 website. Jamie gives some top tips for using leftovers, making Christmas cocktails and roast goose. Plenty of inspiration for Christmas Day and beyond, and lots of tips to make Christmas cooking easier.

Mary Berry’s Absolute Christmas Favourites

Mary Berry takes a break from the Bake Off tent to share a selection of Christmas favourites and newcomers over two episodes. These include a family fish pie with soufflé topping, horseradish mustard beef, and a stunning chocolate mousse cake.

Great British Bake Off Christmas Masterclass

As well as hosting Absolute Christmas Favourites, Mary Berry will be teaming up with the other half of the GBBO judging team, Paul Hollywood, to present a special Christmas masterclass. They’ll be showing us how to make stollen, a gingerbread house you can make with all the family, as well as lesser-known bakes, for instance Scottish black bun and Tunis cake.

Food Unwrapped’s Christmas Dinner

Jimmy Doherty, Kate Quilton and Matt Tebbutt aim to expose the science and stories behind the food we eat. In this Christmas edition, they ask: “Why is farmed salmon pink?" "Can you grow a chicken as big as a turkey?" "Is the gold in drinks real gold?” and more.

MasterChef: the Professionals Final

Three finalists battle it out in the final of MasterChef just before Christmas, making a three-course meal to prove that they are worthy of the title of Professional MasterChef Champion 2014. Should be a tense watch. The quarter-final will be shown at 8pm on Wednesday 17th, and the semi-final is on at 8pm on the 18th.

12 Chefs of Christmas

Chefs including Matt Tebbutt, Eric Lanlard, Lisa Faulkner, John Whaite and Shelina Permalloo have been busy creating recipes for this cookery show. It features a range of food from various countries’ traditions, and the recipes range from party food to meals to serve on Christmas Day itself.
